How does the Nursery work?
We’re excited to be serving your little ones. We believe that from birth a child experiences the love of Christ. During these early months and years they are forming attitudes and impressions about God and the church. We consider it a great privilege to be among the very first people to display God’s love to your child.
We provide nursery care for children during the 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services. Our nursery can be divided into two rooms designed to meet the needs of each child’s physical, spiritual, and emotional stages of development. They are given fun toys and books geared to stimulate their development.
What ages of children are involved in the Nursery Ministry and what is available for them?
Infants 0-2 years
In the nursery, children hear important Bible truths, like “God loves me” and “Jesus is my friend,” through Play N Worship, a fun interactive curriculum designed just for babies and toddlers. Babies are held, loved, and allowed to safely explore, while toddlers play games and sing songs and explore activities reinforcing the main Bible Truth. Every week teachers lovingly share the truth of God’s Word and care for the needs of every child.
How do you keep children safe?
All children are checked-in electronically as they enter the children’s area. Children receive a name tag sticker with a 3-digit number. Parents also receive a sticker tag with the child’s name and a matching 3-digit number. If parents are needed at any time during the service, the 3 digit number will appear at the front of the sanctuary above the door on the left. Additionally, the nursery teachers ask for any allergies or special instructions. Parents can be asked to present their matching sticker at pick up to ensure the safety of the child.
In addition, all Nursery Ministry volunteers must complete an application and criminal background screening before serving.
What if my baby cries when I leave?
We are specially trained to handle baby cries! Please do not worry about the nursery teachers. They are prepared. Many times children calm once they are familiar with the room and establish a relationship of trust with the caregiver. In general our procedure is to call the parents down if the child has still not calmed after 10 minutes of crying, but as parents, it is your privilege to determine what is best for your child. We are happy to accommodate wherever we can. Please feel the freedom to hand us your unhappy child and walk away! We look forward to spending time with them, getting to know them and establishing a trusting relationship. One more helpful tip: You might find it easier to sit toward the front right of the sanctuary, if your child is crying, as sometimes the sound can carry upstairs.
